While the jury's still out on whether Leif Eriksson discovered the New World, there's no doubt this Norwegian import builds the most "amazing work" in Westchester. Reider Gundersen and his brother put down the stakes of the firm in 1964. It excels in constructing high-end new homes, with the occasional $200,000 to $500,000 renovation and addition if it can be fit into the schedule. While the Vikings needed a boat, area architects, city building inspectors and corporate mogul clients all tell us this firm "walks on water."
Today Reider works alongside his two sons, Glenn and Dan. The Gundersens provide more than complete hands-on supervision--they actually perform the rough framing and interior carpentry themselves. The result is a greater attention to detail, expert trim work and intricate custom built-ins ranging from custom media centers to kitchen cabinets. Those clients lucky to get the Gundersens get a superior product with the signature of a true craftsmen.
